NorthStar Automation is a web-based warehouse management system and is built utilizing Microsoft ASP.NET / SQL technology and can offer two types of implementation platforms, on premise and in the cloud.
- On premise platform is a capital expenditure and the perpetual licenses are maintained on the customer’s internal server. This allows for the use of the NorthStar WMS licensed software indefinitely. Usually when the customer’s ERP is local and on premise than the WMS will tend to also be on premise.
- Hosted platform is running the system over the Internet on a cloud server. The customer can run perpetual licenses on a dedicated cloud server or utilize a service know as SaaS (Software as a Service), which is a subscription. The monthly subscription fee includes access to the core product, elected optional modules and user access based on the number of named users. The monthly subscription fee includes access to technical support and includes additional features such as server maintenance, backup, disaster recovery and technical support.
